Time Warp Tuesday

After eating lunch at Clayton's school today, I was flooded with memories of my days in the cafeteria.

The greatest thing that could ever happen in the cafeteria was when someone dropped their tray on the way to the trash can. Everyone would stand and cheer. I looked forward to those moments. I only hoped I would never be the one to drop my tray.

The greatest foods in the cafeteria:
1. The pizza that was shaped like a triangle and a rectangle at the same time. I know it seems impossible, but those cafeteria ladies could sure do it. It was always served with corn.
2. Chicken byproduct day: This was either chicken nuggets, chicken fried steak, chicken patties, steak fingers. It was served with mashed potatoes and gravy and a roll that had a glaze of butter over the top. Chicken byproduct day was always on Wednesdays and we actually called it by this name in elementary school.
3. Barf on bun: I never ate this due to it's name, but I still loved it when it was served.

Proud Grandparents

Nonna and Nonae cheered Clayton on.

Surprise Visit

We made a surprise visit to Clayton for lunch today. We took Happy Meals and waited in the lunchroom for him to arrive. Clayton was so excited!!! He asked if we could come eat lunch with him everyday. I think we will just stick to a surprise lunch every now and then.

Happy 50th Birthday!!

Today was the city of Murphy's 50th birthday celebration. Our church, The Springs, was asked to pass out water at this event. It was a blast. The boys had so much fun....

We passed out over 1,000 bottles of water to the community and invited them all to our church. Afterwards, Joel and I actually got to have our date night. Our last "date night" was spent in the ER at Medical City. No concussions today!! We headed to the Cheesecake Factory at The Market in Allen. It was a really cool place!! It is nice to have some time with my hubby without kids.

His Biggest Fans

Clayton's biggest fans came to his t-ball game today. His cousins Ally, Maddie, Mia, Will, and friend Carly....plus, Gigi, Grandpa, and Julianne all cheered him on as he had his highest scoring game. Sadly, his cousins Owen and Noah were sick with a stomach bug and couldn't make it. It was the greatest Giants game of the season. Clayton scored twice and got on base a third time.

Catching Fireflies

We headed out in the wagon this evening for a picnic at the park and firefly catching. There is a great firefly hangout right down the street from us. We had to wait right until sundown and the fireflies started coming out. They were everywhere. It was so much fun to watch the boys look for the fireflies and run after them. They would get so excited to see them light up. We didn't have Daddy with us, so it was a little more difficult. I am sure he is a firefly catching expert. We did capture three fireflies in a jar. We brought them home to show Daddy when he got home from work. Then, we will let them go back to their firefly hangout.

A fun playgroup at the park!

First Base

Clayton made it to first base today. Yay, Clayton!! He was so proud. The kid after him struck out, so he didn't get to score. We are hoping the next game.

Oh boy, oh boy

Ollie P., you bring me great joy....but, oh my goodness...you are such a BOY!!

(a stick in one hand and dirt in the other)
You are so precious to me!

The lunch choices for Monday were:
Grilled cheese
Sloppy Joe's (aka "barf on bun" when I was a kid)
Chef Salad with Ham

What does Clayton choose?? The Chef Salad with Ham. He said he loved it. It had lettuce, ham, cheese, tomatoes and onions. I nearly laughed myself to tears thinking about my little five year old sitting at a table in the midst of peanut butter sandwhiches, cheetos, and animal crackers eating his Chef Salad. Although, I am very proud of his choice.

The lunch choice for today:
Beef Enchiladas
Bean Burrito
Taco Salad

Yet again, the salad wins!! I love this boy!!

A No Good, Very Bad Day!

This precious little webkinz has caused many, many tears today. We told Clayton that if he got a sticker every day for the six weeks, then he could get a webkinz. He had already picked the one he wanted out. He has done such a great job following the rules in kindergarten..... until today. Clayton spoke out during group learning time without raising his hand. He got his color moved to green, had to sit out 5 minutes in recess and got a note sent home in his folder. This sounds a little harsh, but it is one of the main rules and he needs to learn to obey the class rules. He was DEVASTATED!!!!! He said, "I just had a really bad day...I cried all day...I don't ever want to go back to Kindergarten. I really wanted to get a webkinz. I just forgot to raise my hand."

I am so proud of how well he has done...it pains me that I cannot give him what he wants. We explained to him that he could start over at the next six weeks. So, tonight, he cried himself to sleep. Oh, the lessons of life learned at the age of five.

A Fall Day

I am so excited about this weather. This morning it was 67 degrees. This evening it was in the low 70's. We ate dinner outside and then when on a bike ride and to the playground before bedtime. I hope it sticks around!!

Carpool line...no car??

Around 2:00 today I woke Oliver up from his nap :) to pick Clayton up from school. We jumped in the car and lo and behold...the battery was dead. This is the fourth time this month that the battery has died. Do you think it is time for a new battery??? I had to run in the house, call the school and let them know that Clayton would be a "walker" today and what side of the school I would be on. I quickly threw some tennis shoes on and we headed out the door. I only had 15 minutes at this point to get to the school that is 1 1/2 miles away (without any sidewalks). I literally sprinted the whole way pushing an umbrella stroller in the middle of a two lane road. People were driving by thinking I was CRAZY!! I was thinking the same thing. Luckily I made it on time. When Clayton came out of school he said with excitement,"I am a walker today!". The teacher said,"Are you his mom?" I told her I was...she then said,"oh, he told us he was going home with his friends today". Thank goodness I made it on time or Clayton would be at some kids house and I would never find him. Then, we headed another 1 1/2 miles back home with a bathroom break in someone's yard. Well??? He couldn't hold it any longer. Clayton LOVED being a walker. Me, not so much. Maybe if I had a little warning.

We were supposed to be heading to the doctor for flu shots after school...the boys lucked out this time.

Hurricane Ike

Hurricane Ike was supposed to be here around noon today. Well, it wasn't as powerful as expected...thank goodness. We had a blast in the pouring down rain while Oliver was napping (he was REALLY napping!!).
