Birthday's Galore

Most of the birthdays in our family are in January, February and March. I planned to have the next baby away from the birthday party marathon. Will had his party at the Ft. Worth Zoo today. It was so much fun and gorgeous outside. The kids loved being outside and running off some energy.

Potty Training

What a great day to potty train!! We can't go anywhere anyways, so might as well try it. All day yesterday, Oliver kept taking his diaper off and putting underwear on himself. So, I thought we should give it a try. He wore underwear all day. I can't say it was a complete success, but it was a start. He has a love for chocolate, so that was a great motivator for him. His brother was also his biggest supporter. We cheered him on all day. We will try again tomorrow.(he wanted the potty in the den for some reason...whatever works!!)Cute little boy in his thomas undies (his fourth pair for the day)!

Iced In

WE'RE TRAPPED!! We do not do well stuck in a house all day long. We all have too much energy that cannot be burned off in 1800 square feet. It's just not possible.

So, I tried to have many activities planned for the day so we all stayed sane. First, we started off making pancakes.
That took up about 30 minutes of our day.....
Next, we did hours of puzzles and train track building. This got tiring after awhile, so we moved into the kitchen for play dough making. I have never done this before, so it was pretty fun. I let the boys do all of the measuring and mixing so it would take up a whole lot of time.We had quite a mess!!plus, our hands are dyed several colors after mixing the food coloring in the playdough.
"I am making a wabbit house"

After lunch, we decided to make a cake. I only had angel food cake on hand, so we added chocolate chips to it. I have no problem turning a healthy cake into an unhealthy one if chocolate is involved. I was actually excited for it to come out of the oven. Well, for future reference, angel food cake is too light to hold up the chocolate chips. They all fell to the bottom of the pan and stuck. Such a disappointment.
We survived our day trapped inside. I look forward to seeing the outdoors tomorrow. Did I say that I liked winter??? I think I may change my mind. We just don't do well indoors!!!

When it gets quiet...

.....it might be a good idea to look around for your youngest son. He is probably doing something he shouldn't be.

I found him in my bathroom applying hairstyling wax all over his face using my mascara brush and blush brush. Isn't that fun???His eyebrows and eyelashes are nicely styled. Not a hair out of place!!
I love this mischevious little boy!!

The Results are In.....

It's a.........

That's right folks!! You can see a little disappointment in Clayton's face. He really wanted a baby sister. I can't say that I was not a little disappointed myself. But, he is truly a blessing. I know God has great plans for this baby boy already and he already holds a special place in our hearts. My mother-in-law sent me this verse. "Many are the plans in a man's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails." (Proverbs 19:21) He knew this baby boy would exist long before he was ever formed. That is incredible to me!!

When I first got married, I was a very inpatient person. I prayed for patience daily. I was always waiting for the next best thing. God has really taught me patience through my boys. I am guessing that He thinks I have conquered this since I am blessed with another!!! :)

We celebrated with PF Chang's and a little Coldstone Creamery. My new fav is chocolate mixed with rasberries. YUM!!!!!!
It is the coldest day of the year and we are still lovin' it.
This is our special Big brother and Little brother.
*****Everything looks great on sono except for he has a choroid plexus cyst (which is on the brain). It does not affect the development of the brain, but can be a marker for babies with Trisomy 18, but these babies present with other markers as well. Everything else looked normal, plus my nucchal translucency and triple screen both came back normal. My OB said that this should resolve by the third trimester, so please pray that this happens. She did not seem concerned at all. I will have another sono in four weeks to see if it has resolved.

The Fortune Cookie

To preface the story, I don't believe in fortunes, astrology, horoscopes, chinese charts, etc.

Joel and I went to PF Chang's with another couple who is also expecting their third baby. They have two girls and we have two boys. At the end of the meal we got our fortune cookies. I opened mine up and it said GIRL on it. The other person opened up her fortune and it said BOY on it. The guys opened their fortunes and they said something random (horse and dog maybe). I thought this was pretty funny.

Tomorrow we will find out if my fortune was right. If it is not, I will still be excited and feel completely blessed. If it is, then that means that the other couple should be expecting a boy, right??

5 1/2 days....

.....until we know if we have a baby brother or baby sister and we are not anxious about it one bit. HA!! I absolutely cannot wait. Clayton can't wait either. He really wants a baby sister, but knows that it could be a baby brother also. The other day, he was in my closet and found a Christmas gift from my mom for the baby. He said,"We sure do need to get Oliver out of that room (nursery) so we can start setting this stuff up." I just love how excited he is. He asks me almost everyday how long is it until June. He comes up to my belly and talks to the baby and tickles the baby. It is a whole new experience for him. Oliver says, "there's baby brudder" and points to himself. He has no idea!!!

I may post a belly picture next week (don't hold your breath) along with the sono video of our little one. See you next Tuesday!!

Movie Time

Today was a school holiday for MLK day. I decided to brave it and take both boys to the movies. We went to see "Hotel for Dogs". I have pictures, but I have misplaced my memory stick. Hopefully I will find it and can post pictures later. Oliver was not interested in the popcorn, but he did pretty well during the movie. He got up a few times and sat on the steps, but for the most part he was quiet and sat in his seat the whole time. I was very proud of him. It was a really cute movie and Clayton loved it. It was a fun day!

Cool Cuts by Mom

I have decided to take the haircutting of all the boys' hair (including husband) into my own hands. I am trying to make some budget cuts and this seems to be an an easy cut (no pun intended). With them needing haircuts every month, this will save around $60 a month. I bought a new clipper set and studied the directions on how to cut hair. I have never cut, shaved, blended, trimmed hair so this was all new to me. Scary, but luckily my costumers had no idea.

Clayton was my first customer. He was the easy one....although quite the wiggle worm. This is his before picture.
....and the after. I thought I did a pretty good job for my first haircut.
Then comes the second customer.....all smiles right????
Wrong!!! Was I in for the torture of my life. We had tears, screaming, hair flying EVERYWHERE, bribing with candy.....you name it. It was AWFUL!!!! After 30 minutes of haircutting, I threw in the towel. Don't look too closely!!
Next time we will have reinforcements. Daddy will be home for the haircut. Actually, he will be giving the haircut.

Skate Mania!

Oliver and I went to my niece's skating birthday party while Joel was with Clayton went to the other nieces' swimming party. I was a little concerned because I can't skate due to my "condition" and he is only 2 years old. At first, he was not a fan, but then we found the "skate assistant" which is basically a walker on wheels for little people, he could not be stopped. After that, I couldn't get this boy off the rink. He loved it and was so serious about the whole thing. I laughed and laughed and laughed. He wouldn't even stop for cake.

Lost Tooth

It finally came out. Joel told him if he pulled his tooth, then he could watch Star Wars. He pulled that tooth right out...no tears. He was so proud. I cried,of course, because I remember the day that little tooth came in and now it is gone. Plus, his little baby teeth are so cute. He looks so different now.The tooth fairy dropped by and gave him two dollars. He was really upset that she didn't leave the tooth. He asked why she needed it.

Happy New Year!!

I cannot believe it is 2009. It seems just yesterday that it was 2000 and I was a newlywed ringing in the new year with my new hubby. 9 years later....I am lying on a palate with two sweet boys watching Nemo and eating popcorn. I can't imagine anything better!! I let the boys stay up until midnight (I fell asleep way before that), so they slept until 8:45 this morning. We made a trip out to the Gaylord Texan to the ICE exhibit. We all enjoyed it, but I think it got a little too cold for Oliver. It was nine degrees in there.

Oliver really wanted to stay on this train.
On to the Ice exhibit.

The boys with an ice sculpture of Santa.
The ice slide was Clayton's favorite part.

Oliver thought this was a really chilly ride. After his trip down the slide he was ready to go.
Nothing that a train won't cure. He wanted to sit here all day.
Cute boys!
Watcha' looking at?
He loved watching the trains.
Clayton loved watching the fish.

Happy New Year 2009!!!
The tooth pulling project of 2008 had now changed to the tooth pulling project 2009. He says he just wants it to fall out.
