Gorgeous Winter Day

After getting the hang of the bike, we packed it up and went to the Murphy Preserve.  It was such a nice break from the cold.  We took our new kite with us and it was the best kite we have ever had.

The boys played on the play ground, we shot some hoops, and rode bikes some more.

I love these next two pictures.  Elliot kept laying his head on Clayton's shoulder.

Sweet brothers.
It was a perfect day.

NO TRAINING WHEELS!!!

It was gorgeous outside today.  It was the PERFECT day to be outside.  We were going to head to the zoo, but by the time we got ready, it was too late due to some afternoon plans.  We first decided to ride bikes and in a new way...without training wheels for Oliver.  We COULD.NOT. BELIEVE our eyes.  He hopped on his bike and within minutes, he was off on his own.  I was in tears.  I couldn't believe how fast he did it.  He would fall and get right back up and go again.  No tears, just a moment to check out the scrapes on his legs.  This boy has NO FEAR.

Clayton and I decided to be his riding buddies.  We followed him all the way to the end of the street and back.

We are so proud of you, Oliver!!

A "Boo"

Elliot loves reading books.  I found him in his room reading all by himself.

HALLELUIA!!!!!!!!!!!!!! IT CAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The finalized homestudy arrived in the mail today.  I was not the least bit excited.  HA!!!  I came flying in the house from the mail box and seriously wanted to SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!  I put the homestudy in the envelope to mail to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services along with our I-600A application which is an application for advance processing of orphan petition.  We had several other documents that I had to send with it (birth certificates, marriage license, money order).  I checked it over and over again as I sat in my car at the post office.  Hopefully it is all there.  I had to switch over envelopes at the post office and after I left, I went back in just to make sure I hadn't dropped anything on the floor.  I sent it express mail so they will get it tomorrow at noon.  After I mailed it and got in my car, I seriously wanted to vomit, a headache appeared out of nowhere and I had a hard time breathing.  Too much excitement maybe??  Maybe a little anxiety that I missed something??  Not sure.

Now, we wait.....That is the theme of the adoption process it seems.  We wait for an appointment with USCIS for fingerprinting.  That is our next step.  Each part of this process is one step closer to our little girl.

God is sovereign.
 He is Almighty.
He is BIG.
He is in control.
His timing is perfect.

So BIG!!

Doesn't he look like such a big boy?!?!  Ugh!  I can't stand it.  He has a big boy haircut and he is now starting to say some words like a big boy.  In a 24 hour period his vocabulary went from four words to ten words.  He would say "mi" for milk, "bye", and "go go go go" when playing with his cars and "dis" for this.  He points at everything and says "dis" "dis" "dis".  Since yesterday he has added:
*"mama" and he is speaking to me
*"dada" speaking to Joel
*"pass" for paci
*"moe" more
*"no" for nose and points to nose
*"a gog" or "a dah" for a dog
*"a boo" for a book
I love how he puts "a" in front of words.
*he is trying to say Clayton.  I will say Clayton and he will repeat the same syllables.  Kind of hard to say.

Growing up way to fast!!!

Patiently Waiting and hoping today is the day!

Family Birthday Celebration

Our family is so big that we have to have group birthday celebrations to fit them all in.  Today we celebrated Owen, Oliver, Will, Gigi, Laura Ann and Grandpa.  It was a fun evening of yummy pizza and yummy cupcakes.  I cannot believe my little baby is about to turn five years old.  Wow!!

....and waiting......

But those who wait on the LORD
      Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.

Pinewood Derby

The pinewood derby is where a bunch of silly boys get together and ....
 make super funny faces.....
 ....and more silly faces.....
Oh...and they race their cool pinewood derby cars that their dads they worked very hard on.
Clayton's car is the 2nd row far left.  We were not sure how well the car would do this year after coming in third place overall last year.

Sadly, the car did not do so well.  It was still a cool looking car with the legoman driver and all. Legoman should've pushed in the gas a little further.
The dads (Joel, his dad, and my dad) were putting their heads together to figure out how to make the winning car.  So funny.  They all went home and searched on the internet to start planning out the winning pinewood derby car for next year.
Oh, and this cutie patootie was at the pinewood derby.  CUTE! CUTE!

Waiting.......

I got an email on Friday saying that our homestudy was finalized, notarized, and ready to be sent to us. The email was actually sent late Thursday night.   So EXCITED!!!!!!!!!!!  I could not stop smiling all day on Friday.  Such a HUGE hurtle in this process.  HUGE.  I could not wait for the mailman to arrive today.  He was running late.  I checked the mailbox 10 times.  He finally came and NO HOMESTUDY.  Bummer.  I have our I600 application ready to mail (this is our next step)...it is just waiting on our homestudy.  Maybe tomorrow.

Sledding

Joel took the boys out on the annual sledding extravaganza.  The Jeremy Halpins, the Wehrli family and Gigi and Grandpa joined.  Grandpa stayed in the car with the heat on to provide a little respite for the cold tiny fingers and toes.  Gigi was out in the cold having a great time.  I had to stay home with the sick little boy.  It does look like they had a really good time.  Although I had fun reading a book and staying warm inside.

LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. these two pictures.  Their faces are priceless.

SNOW

We had been hearing of snow in the forecast for several days.  The boys could not wait.  Thankfully this only happens a few times a year because I DO NOT LIKE IT!!!!!!  If I lived somewhere that it snowed all the time, you would have to check me in the loony bin.  But, the boys?  They think it is the greatest thing EVER.  We had to call in sick to church today due to a vomiting baby, so the boys waited by the window until the snow began to fall.  As soon as they saw the first flake fall, they were out the door in a flash.  I was staying warm and taking pictures through the window.  It is really beautiful, but too cold for me.

We let sicky out of the house to see the snow.
I think he was thinking what I was thinking....too cold!

It was coming down fast.  It had only been falling for less than 30 minutes and they already built a little snowman.
Thank you for making just a quick visit, snow.  See you again....maybe next year?
