Clayton had to go to school today....on Memorial Day....as the snow make-up day.  Kind of stinky!  But, he had a big surprise (at least for me and Joel) at his awards assembly.  He got the principal's award for both semesters.  That is above a 95 in all subjects.  This was the first year he was given grades on his report card.  I seriously thought every kid got this award, but I was wrong.  Only a few kids in each class got this.  We are so so so proud of him!

Clayton and his AWESOME teacher, Miss Baker!  We are going to miss her!  She has been so great!

I cannot believe he is about to be in third grade.  So big!  So old!  I cried half the morning!  So proud of him, but so sad another year has passed.

Play Ball!

Ols is playing baseball!  He is so EXCITED!!  This is his first sport to play.  He is loving learning the sport and has had so much fun practicing with his daddy.

Here is his first game.  He is playing with his cousins and his friend Grant so it makes it even more fun for him.
He didn't get a hit in the game, and I was so worried he was going to not want to play again, but he said he loved it!!!

Daisy aka "The Distractor"

Daisy had the chance of a  lifetime today.  She got to do what she does best.  She got to jump around and act crazy.  This girl's got skilz!  Friends of ours raise guide dog puppies and Daisy was asked to attend their puppy group to serve as a distraction.  We had her specifically trained in this area (she is also trained in chewing on shoes, and digging out of the backyard), so she did great!  HA!  She is just a puppy and has TONS of energy.  The guide dog puppies are not usually exposed to small dogs, so this was a part of their training.

These puppies are so obedient and did so well.  Most of them completely ignored Daisy.
This is Miranda.  She belongs to our friends, David and Donna.  What a sweet puppy!

Preschool Graduate

I cannot believe Oliver is five years old and a preschool graduate.  I know, I know...it is just preschool, but it just makes me realize how quickly time is flying by.  He was just born, right?  He will be going to kindergarten next year and everything will be different.  He started at this preschool when he was just 6 months old.  He has grown and changed so much.  This year he was in the Pre-K class and has learned so much.  I am amazed at how much he has learned.  I know he is ready for kindergarten, but oh, my heart.  Tears, tears, tears.  I thought it would be easier with the second child, but not at all.  This boy brings us so much joy and we are so proud of him!

5k pics

I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.  John 14:18

You are the helper of the fatherless. LORD, You have heard the desire of the humble; You will prepare their heart; You will cause Your ear to hear, To do justice to the fatherless and the oppressed, That the man of the earth may oppress no more.
Psalms 10:14,17-18
Pure and genuine religion in the sight of God the Father means caring for orphans and widows in their distress and refusing to let the world corrupt you.

James 1:27

In you the orphan finds mercy.

Hosea 14:3

Father to the fatherless, defender of widows — this is God, whose dwelling is holy. God places the lonely in families.

Psalms 68:5-6

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves; ensure justice for those being crushed. Yes, speak up for the poor and helpless, and see that they get justice.

Proverbs 31:8-9

And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me.

Matthew 18:5

I tell you the truth, when you did it to one of the least of these my brothers and sisters, you were doing it to me!

Matthew 25:40

For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father."
Romans 8:14-16

We are so blessed!!!

Annie's 5k

About two years ago, God started stirring my heart for adoption.  I asked for some information from some different agencies just to see what it all looked like.  When I first opened it, I could not get past the cost of it all.  I just knew that this was impossible for us and immediately threw the packet in the trash.  I closed that door for us.  God had other plans.  About four months later, He dropped me straight to my knees and called me to adopt.  From that moment, I did not turn back.  But, I was still afraid.  Where would the money come from, how are we to do this?  The Lord kept reminding me to just be obedient, walk with Him and trust Him and he would do the rest.  I believe that nothing is impossible for God and He can and will do anything for His will to be done, but why would he do this for me?  We continued to walk in obedience and He has provided for us every step of the way through this process.  April 1st, our DTE date, our adoption account was completely emptied.  We knew we would be needing another $5500 at the time of referral and then around $12,000 for travel.  Joel came up with the idea to do a 5k around Christmas time.

Our 5k was today and it was AWESOME!!!  So many people came out to celebrate this little girl who we do not even know yet.  They showed us so much love and support.  I am in awe of the sacrifice that so many of these people made to help bring our Annie home one day.  So thankful. So blessed.  Humbled.  I have been in tears all day.  We raised $8,600!!!!!!!!!!!  Can you believe it?  I am still in shock.  We love this little girl so much and I am so excited that so many friends and family love her too!!

Happy Early Birthday to me!

God has blessed me with such a dear and precious friend who also happens to live right across the street from me.  How awesome is that!!  We go on long walks/runs in the evening, we sit in our driveways and watch the kids run around, we talk about life, our joys and our struggles.  I love her and her friendship means so much to me.  Today, I came home from running errands to find beautiful specks of color all over my flower bed.  She had said she was going to plant flowers in my flower bed, but I still was completely surprised!  What a wonderful early birthday gift (bday is on Monday)!

Thank you for your sweet friendship!
