Every new year's eve, I think of two very special people.  My Grammaw and Paw Paw.  They were my world and I was theirs.  I miss them deeply.  It hurts.  They have been gone for a long time now.  My Grammaw has been gone for 12 years and my Paw Paw for 8.  But, I have so many memories of them.  Every single new year's eve when I was a child, I would spend with them.  It never failed.  And they couldn't wait to spend this special night with us.  My parents thought they were the lucky ones to have a fun night out, but really I knew that we were the lucky ones.  My Paw Paw always bought special food just for us.  They bought champagne glasses and sparkling cider.  They bought jalapeno cheese dip, chips galore and ice cream.  Me and my sisters would spend the evening talking in British accents, pretending we were rich and calling our Grammaw "Mandy".  She was our maid.  We played Tripoley (a poker game) until the clock struck midnight.  Then we went out on the front porch with our poppers, screaming at the top of our lungs "HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!"  While Chad jumped up and down and made his pants fall down around his ankles.  Every. Single. Year.  The same thing.  It never changed.  It was one of the best days of the year. I love this day especially because of them.  Because they were my world and I was theirs.

Merry Christmas

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!

Happy 36th Birthday, JOEL!!!

36.....wow!  35 went by way to fast!  We started off the morning with Einstein's bagels.  We spent the rest of his birthday at the Perot Museum of Nature and Science.  He had a huge birthday party because everyone else in the metroplex was at the museum to celebrate with us!!!  It was CROWDED.  Part of Joel's birthday present was a membership to the museum, so we weren't too upset since we knew we would come back soon.  The museum is incredible.  Clayton still loves dinosaurs and dinosaur bones.  He has loved them since he was two.  So, he was in heaven with all the dinosaur bones to look at.  The best part is the sports museum where the boys were able to race a t-rex and Elliot raced a cheetah.  We also saw "Sea Monsters" in 3D.  It was pretty cool too!

Making these blocks move with our bodies.

Looking at our veins through our hands.

We stopped for a late, late lunch at one of Joel's favorite lunch spots.  Good to Go Tacos.  He is the only one that has eaten here so he was excited to share it with us.  It was DELISH!  The tacos were so big and filling that one taco would've been enough!
Joel went to the movies as soon as we got home and I made his birthday cake and put all the Christmas decor away!

Happy 36th birthday to you Joel!  I hope this is your best year yet!!!

We had such a fun day celebrating you!
