Two weeks from today my feet will be standing on Ethiopian soil and my hands will be serving and loving the people! I cannot even imagine.....I am coming up with a list of verses to have written down so if you can think of one for me , I would love to write it down!

Joel let Oliver "drive" home from connect group last night. Of course, our house is just down the street. He thought it was the greatest thing EVER! His smile was huge! Love it!

Makes me so sad! This year has been great and his teacher has been awesome! We are so proud of how hard he works. Way to go A honor roll!

About to panic! Ols is about to finish kinder! Can. Not. Take it! Clayton Has only one more year of elementary school. The boys are leaving for Disney world in a week and a half! I leave for Ethiopia in 2.5 weeks! I won't see them for 18 days! Scared to fly! Breathe.....breathe.....breathe....

BSF (bible study fellowship)has touched my life in so many ways.  I cannot begin to describe how amazing this study is.  If you want God to do a huge work in your life, join BSF this coming year.  They have groups that meet all over the world.  God will change you and challenge you.  Today was our last study for the year :(.  We have been studying Acts and the Epistles.  Today was share day and you could share what you have learned this year, how God has worked in you, or what you have learned about God's character.  Public speaking frightens me.  I can sing, no problem, but speaking...YIKES.  But, I knew God was tugging on my heart to share my story, so I typed it all out that morning and I actually raised my hand and did it.  This was a HUGE deal for me.  There were at least 300 women there.  My body was shaking, my voice was shaking and my paper was shaking like crazy.  But, here is what I shared.  I read it word for word:

Three years ago, God flipped my world upside down and called me to adoption.  It took months of prayer and fighting his calling, but one day, the calling was so strong, I obediently said "yes" even though I had so many fears.  I thought it would be easy.  God called me here so why wouldn't it be easy. HA! I thought we would have our little girl home now.  But, the road has been rough.  It has been painful.  I have struggled for peace.  Before this study, I was bitter and there was a lot of grumbling on this journey God had me on.  But, this study has changed me.  God has changed me.  I have peace and am so overjoyed right where He has me.
* Faith is perfected when we fix our eyes on Jesus, persevering and enduring as he did.
* Real faith perseveres and matures through trials seeing God's blessings in all things.

I must daily fix my eyes on Christ and continue on this journey even though it is hard.  I must continue to be obedient even though I have no idea how things will turn out.

Hebrews 10:23  Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess. For he who promised is faithful.

1 Thess 5:25 The one who calls you is faithful and he will do it!

I stand in awe of him.  I cling to him. My faith is like it has never been before.  I know who He is, I know his promises, and I know he is for me!

Hebrews 12:28-29 Therefore since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe; for our God is a consuming fire.

I have learned to have true joy in the hardships and just to praise him no matter what.  I have let go of the tight grip I have had on life and just walk in obedience to him.  I have let go of worldly things and started living for eternity.  I have had to let go of my timeline and just continue to walk on this journey no matter how long it takes or how difficult it may be.  A life of service to God requires following the spirit no matter what!!  He has more for me than I could ever imagine.  Ephesians 3:20 Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.

And then I sat down and my nerves didn't calm until the whole thing was over and I could get up and get to my car.  I am so thankful for BSF and so thankful for the woman who have touched my life this year.

Taco Night

We eat A LOT of mexican food.  Not out to eat, but at home.  We eat enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas, fajitas, burritos, taco casseroles...etc.  I decided I needed to figure out a healthier way to eat all these things. I found a recipe for whole wheat flour tortillas and they are YUM!!  and so easy to make.  Plus, it is cheap.  I eat them for lunch with some hummus.  

I like to double or triple the recipe so we have lots of tortillas.  I could even use them for the boys lunches instead of using bread.
I also made taco seasoning.  Pre-packaged taco seasoning is full of preservatives and MSG.  
This was so easy, so cheap and makes a lot so it can be used over and over.
I have also been making homemade refried beans.  It is super easy, made in the crockpot, preservative free and GOOD!!!

Leaving for Ethiopia....

Diet dp free!

I have officially been free from diet dp and artificial sweeteners for 1 month. It has been tough! I still love it and crave it like crazy. But, my headaches have been few and far between! Yippee! I thought I had headaches because I needed it more, but it was because I needed to rid my body of aspartame. Artificial Sweetener Disease is a real thing.  The cure is to stop ingesting Artificial Sweeteners. Artificial Sweetener builds up in the body and it also takes time to rid your body of it!  Yikes!  Read this article on ASD http://www.naturalnews.com/034378_artificial_sweetener_disease_ASD_aspartame.html  My new favorite drink is sobe life water! It is so good and has no artificial sweetners. I have been using agave nectar to sweeten stuff too!  We have also been gradually decreasing the amount of processed foods and high fructose corn syrup we ingest.  It has not been easy and takes a lot more preparation, but we will get there.  I have been paying more attention to labels and what I actually put into my body and my children's bodies.  At least we are trying!  If anything, I am so thankful that my headaches are going away.  I was having some last for 4 days.  So, my ibuprofen intake has decreased dramatically too.  That is a plus!  My liver thanks me!

Soccer Boy

Freshwater Fishery

This weekend we headed to Athens, Tx to the Freshwater Fishery.  The boys have been fishing so much that we thought they would love this.  It is really neat to see the different kinds of fish that are in the Texas lakes.  I really had no idea.  We started out in the dive show and fish feeding.  

We then took a short tram tour of the place.

Then we took a really fun trail and saw all kinds of neat things.  I was a little obsessed with the lily pads.  I have never seen so many and they are so pretty.  Lots of pics to follow of these precious lily pads.
After the first 5 minutes here, Clayton said "This is the best place EVER!!"  Love that!

After the nature trail, we finally saw the guy we came to see.  The alligator gar.  The boys have been dying see this fish.  This giant guy lives in our lakes and can be up to 300 pounds and 8 feet. YIKES!  He did not disappoint.

These catfish were the craziest thing I have seen.  Do you think they have been fed once or twice before?  Ha!

Next up, fishing for catfish.  Our pond is not stocked with catfish, so this was the first time they had caught them.  They each caught a catfish.  

This is some other crazy fish that is living in our lakes.  Looks like a deep sea fish to me.
We wanted to go see Joel's Aunt and Uncle, but we didn't have time.  Sorry Keith and Beth Ann, hope to catch you next time!  We will be back!  We hit the Cotton Gin on the way home for a late, late lunch and made it home just in time for my Pinterest Girl's Night Out party.  Whew!  What a fun, fun day!
