Summertime Grocery Shopping

One of the joys of summer is taking all three boys grocery shopping.  Ha!  It does not create huge anxiety in me and make me a crazy lady in the store.  Double HA!  It is hard for me to maintain any level of sanity in the grocery store.  I've got one that wants to ride in the cart, one that wants to ride on the side of the cart, one that wants to push the cart but run with it really fast and run over feet.  Oh, the joy!  But, today, I just had two.  And, Aldi is right next to our favorite summer stop.  The QT.  $0.89 slushies  ALL SUMMER LONG.  So, I bribed them.  Oh, yes I DID!  And, it was lovely!  Happy boys, happy momma!  Nothing like a healthy treat of a giant slushie and a GIANT bag of Cheetos!  That's how we roll.

Warrior Week

Sent this boy off to Warrior Week today.  It was so much harder letting him go this time because he didn't have a friend with him.  I know he will meet friends, but it was still hard.  I am praying he has a great time and meets lots of new friends!

Macey and Olivia are going to Girls Getaway.  It is a totally different camp.  They will be nowhere near Clayton.  I am sure they will have an awesome time too!

So backblogged,obviously...with Joel gone.  I just was keeping my head afloat.  But, I want to write down something Elliot said today.

(In a very irritated tone)

"Why does Annie NEVER call us?"

Sweet boy.  I love how his heart is ready for her to come home too.  He spends a little time in her room everyday investigating all of her things. My parents got her a little people princess castle for Christmas last year and he looks at that box everyday.  He has the whole castle memorized from the picture on the box.    He said that he cannot wait to show her this castle and asks me constantly when she will come home to play with it.  Soon....soon.

Pool Envy

The neighborhood across the street has this AWESOME pool with these great big slides.  We have lived in our house for almost 6 years and every time we pass by this pool, the boys ask why we can't live in that neighborhood.  Pool Envy.  We got an invite from a friend to finally get to go to the AWESOME pool.  It really was a nice pool.  Elliot wanted to go on the slides so badly.  I walked him up the many flights of stairs, we got up there and then walked all the way back down.  TWICE.  The third time, Clayton walked him up there and sure enough, he came down.  He was so proud.  He didn't even want the lifeguard to help him swim the long swim to the side.  Mr. Independent.  Mr. Third Child.  They had a slide that goes straight down and really fast and the other two went on that one.  For two hours straight, they went up and down and up and down.  When we got home, they put jammies on and they were out in five minutes....well until Clayton woke up throwing up....not fun!  I suggested going to our pool and Clayton said that our pool just wasn't really cool....first world problem for sure.  It was just fine yesterday!!!!!

Just Els

Els had a rough time not staying at Gigi's with the big boys.  Gigi told him he had to be six to stay.  He said "I'm six."  "I really, really am six."  Poor boy!  Not convincing enough.  It was just the two of us.  So, I let him pick out some fun things to do.  His main request was the Perot Museum.  He loves that place.  The funny thing is he spends most of his time on one floor.  He played in the dinosaur dig sand box for an hour at least.  We spent some time at the pool and had many of chickfila lunches. oops....think we might be WAY over budget for eating out this month...too hard to cook when Joel out of town. Or maybe too depressing...or who knows.  I just didn't want to cook.  I feasted on many of lean cuisine for the week.  I had to work two of the days, so he had a special treat of spending the day with my sister Jenni, and nieces Emily, and Macey and then spending the next day with my sister, Erin.  Erin texted me around 9am saying that he was still asleep.  I was shocked.  She then texted me at 11:15 and said he had just woken up.  Seriously???  NEVER happened to me.  Might invest in some blackout curtains because the room he was sleeping in had those.  craziness.  My nieces love instagram, so I got to see many pictures and videos of them throughout the two days.  I was glad to have him back on Thursday night.  I know he is not going to fight off anybody trying to break in my house, but I was scared just being by myself.  Oh, and Daisy got to have a playdate for the two days too.  My friend, Stephanie took her.  I am so thankful for the family and friends I have been blessed with.  Including all the people that called, texted, and facebooked to check on us this week.  It was hard having Joel gone for 11 days.  I am just not used to not having him here.  So glad to have him home.

Camp Gigi

Gigi had these four awesome boys for the whole entire week.  She took them to her VBS at her church everyday and then they had a fun activity planned for the afternoon.  She is such an incredible Gigi to these boys and we love her so much for the time she invests in them.   Oliver and Clayton have both completely memorized 2 Timothy 1:7.  "For God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control."  They had a day of bowling, a day of swimming, many craft days, and Amazing Jakes.  Clayton got to drive all the boys around because he was the only on tall enough.  Funny!  They had a blast and cannot wait for next year.  I am sure Gigi will be taking a really long nap every day for the next week to recover.  Such sweet, precious memories were made this week.

I can't believe I actually grew something in a garden.  8 Cucumbers!!!

What to do with 8 Cucumbers?  Make Pickles!!!!!  I was surprised at how easy it was to can.  A little time consuming, but not hard.  We have to wait a few weeks to try them out.  I hope they are delicious!

The 4th

The 4th was not our normal day.  I left at 5:30 am for a 12 hour shift.  Joel left for Peru for 11 days at noon and Gigi and Grandpa had the boys for the day.  I was so sad that I really didn't get to tell Joel goodbye, but Rachel cheered me up by sending me pics of the boys during the day.  I know they had a blast.  After work, I went to pick the boys up and they wanted so badly to go watch fireworks.  This tired momma "ruined" their day.  I just couldn't do it.  So, we got to listen to them ALL NIGHT from inside our house.

The boys had two friends over for the whole day.  We spent most of the day at the pool, played "Some" Minecraft, I introduced our friends to the QT and then cooked out S'Mores.  The boys had a great day.  Joel taught all the boys how to start a fire with flint and steel.

27 months

27 months waiting for our baby girl.  Honestly, I have been overwhelmed with such a peace lately.  I have been really enjoying the summer and really enjoying my boys.  We have had so much fun.  I am content.
